  1. I would love to find out more about procedures like whitening of the teeth, and although there are many products out there, not all of them are good. Perhaps one of these dental health books will be the answer and provide a solution that is both natural and that works without any damage to the teeth.

    • Hi Michel

I understand your interest in finding natural and safe ways to whiten your teeth.

Here are some thoughtful perspectives to consider:

While having whiter teeth can boost confidence, the health of your teeth is most important. Aggressive whitening treatments can damage tooth enamel and increase sensitivity. Instead of focusing on drastic whitening, consider small lifestyle changes that support oral health, like brushing gently with a whitening toothpaste, drinking less staining beverages, and getting regular cleanings.

Look for whitening products with the ADA Seal of Acceptance, which indicates safety and effectiveness. Be wary of “too good to be true” products, as they may use harsh chemicals or abrasives that erode enamel. Don’t overuse even ADA-accepted products.

If no joy with the above, consider speaking to your dentist about options suitable for your teeth. Get their professional opinion before trying products or procedures. They can help you determine if you’re a good candidate and ensure proper technique.

While white teeth are attractive, the most beautiful smiles come from confidence and taking care of your oral health. Focus on whole body wellness, keeping your teeth naturally clean and strong. A bright, healthy smile radiates from within.

      Best Wishes.

  2. Hi Kazeem,
I read your blog post with interest as I am retired and had major dental work done on my teeth last year. I had eight upper teeth removed and a denture fitted. I found the whole procedure traumatic and expensive. Maintaining oral health can be a major expense, especially for older people.

After going through the experience, I realized the importance of having health insurance that covers dental procedures. Even with insurance, the dental work cost me $2000.

The dentures are just temporary and I hope to have implants eventually. I just have to save up more money.

Now that I have dentures, I have completely changed my eating habits. I have to eat soft foods all the time. I was wondering if you could recommend a cookbook for people with dentures?

    Wishing you all the best,
    Cheers John

    • Hi John,

Thank you for sharing your experience – I appreciate you taking the time to provide your thoughtful perspective. Having major dental work done can certainly be challenging, especially later in life.

I’m sorry to hear it was such an ordeal for you.

Great point you raised there about the importance of insurance coverage for dental procedures. The costs can add up quickly, and not everyone is prepared to handle that financial burden. I’m glad you at least had some coverage, even though it was still expensive. Saving up for implants down the road is a smart idea.

Adjusting to dentures does require changing some eating habits. I don’t have personal experience with cookbooks for dentures, but it looks like there are some options available on Amazon that may be helpful.

The “Simply Soft Food” book seems to have good reviews.

I hope you’re able to find some recipes that make eating a bit easier.

Wishing you all the best as well. Take care, and please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need any other recommendations for adjusting to dentures!
